Expired propane tanks are considered hazardous material whether they have gas in them or not. This is because there is a left-over oily residue on the inside walls of an empty tank. Many garbage companies do not want to inherit the risk of a hazardous material, thus many do not accept disposal of expired tanks.

Tanks 2 You Propane does not charge for the disposal of expired propane tanks. If you have under 20 expired tanks, feel free to bring them to our Norwood facility so we can safely dispose of them at no charge. If you have more than 20 old tanks and want to schedule a pick-up, please call us at 617-365-5081 so we can make arrangements for pick up.
